About The Role

Mercury College is looking for a caring, motivated and enthusiastic Tutor Assistant to join our specialist education team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support adults with learning disabilities, and intensive specialist support needs helping them to develop the skills, confidence and independence needed for adulthood.

Working closely with Tutors and the wider multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in creating a positive, safe and inclusive learning environment where students can thrive. You will provide tailored support both within the classroom and out in the community, helping learners to engage in educational activities, develop communication, literacy and numeracy skills, and achieve their individual goals.

The role includes supporting students with personal care where required, promoting positive behaviour, contributing to learning activities, and helping students access a wide range of opportunities that prepare them for life beyond college. Every day is different, and you will have the chance to make a genuine and lasting impact on the lives of the people we support.

About You

We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting people with additional needs and enabling them to achieve their full potential.

You will have experience working with vulnerable adults, ideally within an educational, care or support environment, and be confident building positive relationships that encourage engagement, independence and personal growth. Patience, empathy and a proactive approach are essential, as our students have a range of learning disabilities, and intensive specialist support needs.

You will be an effective team player who can work collaboratively with Tutors, support colleagues, families and other professionals to ensure students receive the highest quality support. Strong communication skills, flexibility and the ability to adapt to the individual needs of learners are key to success in this role.

Whilst a Teaching Assistant qualification and experience within a specialist education setting would be advantageous, we are equally interested in candidates who demonstrate a genuine commitment to supporting learners and are willing to develop their skills through training and professional development.

Most importantly, you will share our commitment to creating meaningful learning experiences that help students build confidence, develop independence and achieve positive outcomes for their future.
